It is hard to believe that this adorable young couple are still madly in love almost 25 years after this photo was taken. We were six months into our marriage at the time this photo was taken. We were two naive dreamers who didn't have a clue about life but loved each other dearly. Somehow we have kept our love alive even though most people never thought we would last. We were so young when we met. I was just shy of my 16th birthday when we went on our first date while he was almost 19. We married two months after I turned 18 and he 21. It has been a wonderful life together so far. He not only puts up with all my highstrung traits but he spoils me rotten. Sometimes I think he actually doesn't see my faults. (Well, at least he is good at hiding it.) It is amazing how fast time slips away when you are having fun. I thank God every day that he sent me the perfect mate at the perfect time. I wouldn't trade the life I have been given for anything. You may think that I missed out on alot by getting married so young but I see all the blessings I have experienced by meeting my soulmate so young. I wish that everyone could experience the kind of relationship I have been fortunate enough to share with my precious J. I pray that he will always see me as his Sweetpea.

Doctor Visit

We took G for a check up at the pediatrician's office. Children with CP have frequent bouts of intestinal problems. The doctor said she needed to do an examination that all adults cringe to think about. She began to explain to G what she needed to do and he looked straight at her and said, "That's not happening." He was not rude; he was just matter of fact. Even to a six year old some things just don't seem like a good idea. Nevertheless, the exam was done, along with a blood test for food allergies. Today was not the most pleasant trip to the doctor that we have had. I did, however, come up with a brilliant idea. G is impossible to weigh. We usually weigh while holding him and then weigh without him and take the difference to get his weight. Today I brought a little camping chair for him to sit in. It barely fit on the scale but it worked and saved dad and I from the embarrassment of being weighed when it wasn't even our doctor's visit.

It's just not going to work out

Lately G has been telling his "girlfriends" that he is dumping them. He has gone from the secretary at his school, to his parapro, among others from day to day. His parapro asked him if he had dumped her for the secretary and that is how he came to start using the term. I told him that telling them he was dumping them was not a nice way to say it and suggested that he say, it's just not working out between you and me. I told him that on several occasions and thought it was a lost cause until tonight. We were sitting at dinner in Bela Roma when he suddenly took an interest in our waitress. He called out to me in the sweetest little voice and I asked him what he wanted. He looked at me with compassion accompanied by the slightest little smile and said, "Mommy, I just don't think it's going to work out between you and me." Not only did I get dumped; but he did it in a public place so I couldn't make a scene. Ha Ha--too precious.

Lori, Lori, Lori

G said the funniest thing in church this morning. The congregation was singing Holy, Holy, Holy during praise and worship time. We just happened to be sitting next to my friend Lori and when we got to the part of the song that says, "Glory, glory, glory" G looked at me and said, "Mommy I know who we are singing about." I was thrilled and thought what a precious spiritual child I have only to be pleasantly surprised when I asked him who the song was about. He looked at me and in the sweetest little voice said, "Miss Lori, we are singing about Miss Lori." These precious little things I am experiencing mean so much to me. I know that soon they will scatter like leaves in the wind as he grows.
